THEATRE GRAD PROGRAMS
Theatre isn't about being a star, it's about being a knowledgeable and skilled professional. There are two main types of graduate theatre programs. Academic programs include master's and doctoral degrees in Theatre Studies, which take an interdisciplinary approach, examining and analyzing theatre in the context of the fine arts, humanities and social sciences. Topics covered may include links between theatre and spirituality or social action, as well as various theoretical approaches such as post-colonial theatre studies, First Nations' theatre studies, or African theatre and drama. The PhD degree allows you to focus on original research in areas like theatre history, literature, or criticism. Professional graduate degrees in theatre, on the other hand, include the Master of Arts and Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts, which include acting, directing, dramaturgy, design, stage management, playwriting, theatre management and technical production. These graduate professional programs generally prepare students for performing careers rather than academic futures. Interdisciplinary master's programs involving theatre arts may also be possible. So if you're ready to take your love of the stage to a higher level, Grad Source can help you find the graduate theatre program that can lift the curtain on your dreams!
